Nestled on a beautiful 160 acre ranch in Coweta, OK, Ricks Place provides the perfect scenic backdrop for a romantic wedding! If rustic & elegant is your desire, than look no further! Dedicated & named after Ricky Bryan of OU Sooner & Atlanta Falcon fame, Ricks Place provides a picturesque 5000 SQ ft barn style wedding & reception hall that truly sets the mood for love!
Their website boasts: “Ricks Place offers an ultimate balance between rustic and class, while providing opportunities to host indoor/outdoor events. If the weather is ideal, then we highly suggest you open up our three glass garage doors connecting to a spacious fully covered back porch. The setting is simply breathtaking.”
Steve & Sherice chose to say their vows in the outside wedding setting which was perfectly wrapped with light as the sun slowly set in the distance. From the beautiful white chairs to the rustic wooden arch, Steve & Sherice had the fairytale wedding any bride would hope for.
Bride & Groom:
Steve & Sherice have a long history, but their love story only started a little over a year ago! Sherice recalls, “We met through a mutual friend, Jesse, 18 years ago. We started talking again when steve was in Afghanistan. We went on our first official date August 18, 2015. Steve said he knew I was the one when we were on a camping trip at spring break when I was making kissy faces to the animals at Arbuckle Wilderness.”
Steve & Sherice live for the outdoors which is why they chose Ricks Place to say “I do!” Their vibrancy for life & passion for all things nature shines through even in Steve’s proposal: “We were visiting Jesse & his wife in Idaho this summer. We went on an atv ride/picnic through the mountains on my 40th birthday with Jesse & his mom & dad. Steve pulled up next to a stream running out from the mountains & told me to come take a sip of the cold water from the stream & that’s where he proposed. I was completely shocked. He had been planning since around April.”
We are always excited when a couple chooses to do a first look! Not only do we get more time for photos, but it gives us a chance to capture their true emotion because they are alone. Steve & Sherice were no different. Steve is said to be quiet & straight forward by friends & family, so we were elated to see his emotion when he saw his new bride for the first time!
“You’re my bride!” Steve said to Sherice with a quiver in his voice! A strong fireman & veteran Ranger, Steve has faced many dangerous situations with courage & confidence. When he turned & saw Sherice in her gorgeous, strapless gown, he maintained his rugged stature, but the look on his face showed the love & joy he was experiencing.
There is a joy couples experience when they share a first look before their ceremony. It gives them a chance to breath & just be themselves before the crowds arrive.
If you would like more information about “first looks” or why we recommend them, see our post: Should I do a first look?
As the sun set over the horizon at Ricks Place, all who attended knew this couple, though only having started dating a year ago, would be together forever!
Though it was chilly on a November evening, no one seemed to care as Steve & Sherice pledged their love for each other. This couple is not traditional in any sense. Even their sand ceremony was made their own with decorative coffee mugs.
As they were pronounced Husband & Wife, Steve claimed his bride by throwing Sherice over his shoulder in Fireman fashion & carrying her off to their happily ever after!
