For many, taking your engagement photos at the OKC Zoo may not be your first choice, but for Hollie & Tyler it was the obvious & only choice! You see, this is where they met! Hollie was working as a cashier & Tyler was working the grounds! Using this summer job as a way to make a little extra money, neither of them ever thought their lives would be changed!
With over 1,400 different species of animals, the OKC Zoo in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma provides an experience not just for families, but for anyone who visits! Their mission statement boasts of, “contributing to an understanding and preservation of the earth’s natural resources through positive recreational and educational experience.”
You might be asking yourself how romantic can a zoo be, but for Hollie & Tyler, it’s where their love story began! Hollie’s twin brother was working with Tyler on the paddle boats when the couple first met, but flirtations & interests peaked during Malee the elephants first birthday party when they were both working the inflatables! The couple started dating, became fast friends & Tyler says he knew pretty quickly that Hollie would be his forever after!
Tyler proposed at the beautiful Will Rogers Rose Garden in OKC, Oklahoma to a much surprised Hollie! They had a mutual friend from the zoo who was starting her own photography business & wanted to take some portraits of the couple! Little did Hollie know that Tyler had been planning this day for months before! The friend asked Hollie to make a pose & when she did, Tyler was down on one knee! Hollie says she was still in shock over the whole situation for a week after, “Apparently his entire family & mine knew long before I did!”
After capturing some amazing portraits of Hollie & Tyler at the OKC Zoo including a gorgeous one in front of the carousel where Tyler often worked, the couple decided to use Lake Overholser Bridge as their second location! Right on historic Route 66, Lake Overholser Bridge is a part of OKC history! Having been restored several times, it provides historic architecture as well as a more rustic landscape for Hollie & Tyler’s portraits. We always recommend choosing two different locations that provide some contrast for your Engagement Session as well as to also provide contrast for your upcoming wedding photos.
